# Chatbot overview

> How the chatbot is put together, which tabs exist, and where each setting lives.

The chatbot is an agent that appears as a chat window on your website. You set it up under **Meine Agenten** and then add one line of code to your site.

<Info>
  Changes are taken over with **Änderungen speichern**. After that, **instructions and knowledge take effect immediately** — the agent re-reads them on every message.

  Everything else lives in the published configuration file and takes effect only after clicking **Veröffentlichen** in the header.
</Info>

## The main menu

| Entry                     | Contents                                                                                 |
| ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Übersicht** | Key figures and recent conversations |
| **Meine Agenten** | All agents; new ones are created here |
| **Konversationen** | Every chat, across all agents |
| **Tools & Integrationen** | Tools the agent may call |
| **Wissen** | Knowledge entries and knowledge buckets |
| **Einstellungen** | Account, profile, notifications, audit log, AI models, users, permissions, webhooks, API |

**Mehr** holds sharing, visualisation, tickets, contacts, documents and usage & billing. Billing lives here, not under settings.

## The agent tabs

| Tab | What is configured there |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Übersicht** | Read-only: instruction excerpt, setup hints, connected mailboxes, open suggestions |
| **Setup** | Identity, instructions, greeting, quick replies, knowledge, tools, model |
| **Widget** | Appearance: colour, theme, icon, position, docked mode |
| **Übergabe** | Who gets notified and how a human takeover looks |
| **Veröffentlichen** | Whitelisted domains, page visibility, embed code |
| **Konversationen**  | This agent's chats                                                                 |
| **Verlauf** | Who changed which setting, and when |

If you use InboxMate as a chatbot only, the **Email** tab is missing. It appears once a mailbox is bound to the agent — or if the agent was created as an email agent.

## What the chatbot can show in a conversation

Besides text, the agent can display cards. They come from tools and appear inline:

| Card             | For                                                    |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Product card** | One product with image, title, price and a button |
| **Page card** | A pointer to a specific page of your website |
| **Contact card** | WhatsApp, phone or email — the whole card is clickable |

<Info>
  If the agent's own origin is configured for card links, a visitor who opens a product or page card stays on your website and the chat continues once the new page has loaded. That setting is separate from the whitelisted domains and is configured by us.
</Info>

## AI disclosure

The chat window's footer states that an AI is answering. The EU AI Act requires this for systems that talk to people. It cannot be removed through the branding setting; it stays even when you hide "Powered by InboxMate".
